Linking Opportunity and Need

Development & Regeneration Services actively works with the private and public sector partners to ensure that the local community benefits from capital investment and operational activity in and adjacent to their area.

This includes employment opportunities for local individuals, contract and supply opportunities for local businesses and the potential for working together to build strong relations in the community and using community businesses.

‘Community Benefit’ means maximising the impact investment in an area has on the individuals and businesses in that area. This can include:

  • Training and employment opportunities in construction of projects

  • Training and employment opportunities with the end-users of buildings

  • Materials and services supply contracts for local SMEs

  • Services supply contracts for local social enterprises, and

  • Activity with schools and in the community to raise the aspirations of the community.

Development & Regeneration Services work with a range of key agencies to ensure that employment partnerships are created to deliver appropriate services to maximise community benefits at a local level by meeting the needs of the local labour market. Those needs for each area will be different depending on local circumstances.
