Bounce and Rhyme Time

Join us in this fun activity for parents, carers and children 0-3 years. Enjoy action songs, rhymes and stories together.
As well as being great fun, Bounce and Rhyme Times help to improve very young children's literacy and numeracy skills. They are also a great way for parents to brush up on their nursery rhymes! These lively and stimulating sessions are held regularily in libraries throughout Glasgow and are very popular indeed.

ps... The 'Wheels on the Bus' and 'Incy Wincy Spider' are two of our favourites!

Toddlers Tales

Toddlers Tales is a new, fun activity for parents & carers and children 3-5 years to enjoy together. Bring books to life while engaging in physical activity through stories and rhymes.

Toddlers Tales gives children and adults the opportunity to enjoy physical play experiences, as well as helping children build their vocabulary and knowledge. This can improve speech language and communication throughout their learning years.

Book Crawl

The Bookstart Book Crawl aims to encourage parents to bring their under 4s to their local library and become library members.
Children are given their own Book Crawl collector's card and each time they visit the library the card is stamped.
When they have filled their card with stamps, children get a beautifully designed certificate. There are up to five different certificates to collect, with colourful drawings by top children's illustrators such as Catherine and Laurence Anholt, Rod Campbell , Penny Dale, Lara Jones and Hilda Offen.

Bookstart

Glasgow Libraries support the Bookstart National scheme, which aims to help families discover the fun and excitement of sharing books together. Bookstart aims to provide a free pack of books to every baby in the UK, to inspire, stimulate and create a love of reading to give children a flying start in life.

2 years olds are now entitled to a Book Start + pack, here's what's on offer :

a satchel-style bag; two books; a scribble pad and crayons; a booklist for toddlers and a library invitation.
The pack really helps encourage language development and conversation.

3 year olds can claim 'My Bookstart Treasure Chest' - designed to appeal particularly to young children, with 'hidden' compartments for small toys or books. It includes two books, a children’s activity book, and a scribble pad and coloured crayons to encourage early writing.

Please contact your local library for your free packs/treasure chest. Children attending nursery schools will receive their pack/treasure chest from the nursery.

If you are interested in coming along to any of the above activities and need more information, please ask at your local library, or contact:
