New Children's Laureate

Gruffalo author replaces Anthony Browne from 2011-2013

Julia Donaldson, the Glasgow-based author of over 120 books, has been named as the new Children's Laureate.

Her most famous tale, The Gruffalo, was voted as the nation's favourite children's book, and in the same year, she was the most borrowed author in British libraries. Many of her books are available for you to borrow from Glasgow Libraries, including 'Zog', her latest tale about a keen but clumsy dragon.

The role of Children's Laureate is awarded every 2 years to authors or illustrators to celebrate their achievements. Previous holders of the position include Quentin Blake, Jacqueline Wilson, and Michael Rosen.

More information on Julia, her books, and the Children's Laureate award can be found at www.childrenslaureate.org.uk
