Glasgow's libraries offer many services to schools to encourage our children to develop the reading habit and a lifelong love of books.

Our dedicated Young People's Team have extensive experience of working with children and look forward to working with you and your pupils.

Research shows that when public library and school staff work together, children’s reading enjoyment and skills can improve dramatically.  We've listed our services below - please click on each one for details.  To book visits for your class / school, please email us at: contact@csglasgow.org or contact our Young People's Team on 0141 287 2864.

School Library Outreach Team

School Library Outreach supports teaching and learning in Glasgow’s educational establishments (early years, primary and ASL) by providing resources, advice and information.

SLO lends a wide range of high-quality resources to support classroom activities. These include books but lots more too.  Our stock includes items as diverse as puppets, periscopes, chain-mail helmets and even a very tall giraffe!

SLO visits schools to advise and provide information. Whether you are thinking of setting up a new library, revamping an existing one or just want to talk through what we can do to help with a particular problem - ask us!

School Library Outreach can be contacted by telephone 287 2916 or by e-mail: schoollibrary@glasgowlife.org.uk. We look forward to hearing from you.
Further information is also available at

Many of our libraries run tutor-led homework clubs for Primary 5-7 pupils, known as The Learning Post.   Please encourage pupils to attend - our friendly tutors will help them find information for homework and projects.
