Scottish family records on the Web are the most comprehensive in the world. Chief source for these is Scotland's People - the Official Records of Scotland, supplied by the Registrar General for Scotland.

Fully searchable database of 1,700,000 names of those men and women of the Commomwealth forces who died in the two world wars and the 23,000 cemeteries, memorials and other locations world-wide where they are commemorated. The register can also be searched for details of the 67,000 Commonwealth civilians who died as a result of enemy action in the Second World War

National Archives of Scotland |

Holds records spanning the 12th to 21st centuries and is the main archive for sources of the history of Scotland. It is the repository for the public and legal records of Scotland but also holds many local and private archives. There is an online catalogue which lists many of the holdings.
