Business Archives   Archives of businesses both large and small are held in Archives and Special Collections in the Mitchell.     These reflect the wide variety of commercial activity in Glasgow and the West of Scotland over the centuries and include the archives of:
Shipbuilders Iron and steel workers Merchants and warehousemen Retailers Engineers Architects Carriers and ship-owners Fabric and thread manufacfturers Paper-makers Potters and brick-makers Chemical manufacturers       and many more. It should be noted however, that these tend to consist chiefly of clients' papers rather than the records of the business itself
