Many of the archives of the landed families and their estates are held within Archives and Special Collections. 

 

 

These archives are among the most valuable we hold and include a wide variety of subjects and type of record, including the following: titles and other legal  papers; rental rolls; personal family correspondence, estate accounts, including records of  foreign estates, such as Jamaica; witchcraft; tobacco lords ; maps and plans; records of local and national affairs; and very many others.
