Using the Archives Search Room in The Mitchell

Archives manages  the records of Glasgow City Council and its predecessor authorities.  It is responsible for selecting, preserving and managing official and private historical records and providing public access to these records.

As the records held by Archives and Special Collections are original, unique and irreplaceable, the search room is subject to different procedures and rules from the rest of the Mitchell.

Paper catalogues, card indexes and searchable computer databases are available in the search room for most of the archives. There is no need to reserve a seat in advance.
