Over the years The Mitchell has collected many exceptional items, either by donation or purchase.

The oldest treasures in The Mitchell are medieval manuscripts, including some Books of Hours.

Fine Bindings

 

A small display featuring items from our collections which illustrate the craft of the bookbinder.

 

These include wooden and tortoiseshell bindings, an example of a beautiful scenic binding and a very unusual 19th century silver binding executed at the Saracen Factory in Possilpark.
