About RUVI
 
 

The Resource Unit for Visually Impaired People (RUVI) has a variety of access technology products which can help blind and partially sighted people independently access printed and on-line information.

 

'Access' technology
 

The 'access' technologies available in the RUVI include:

  • Aladdin and Merlin video magnifiers
  • Hand held magnifiers
  • ScannaR reading machine and SARA reading machine (with Braille display)
  • Plextalk PTX1 audio book player
  • Computer work stations containing:
  • JAWS screen reading software
  • ZoomText magnification software
  • Kurzweil 1000 scan & read software
