Draft Allotment Strategy Consultation - Land and Environmental Services are looking at ways to make Glasgow's allotments the best they can be. We are asking allotment gardeners for comments on our Draft Allotments Strategy. Further information

Meadow Demonstration Project - The Council is looking into alternative ways to manage grassland at Hogganfield Park and Trinley Brae, Knightswood. A meadow demonstration project is being set up at these sites. Further information

The East End 5K This fun family event takes place on Sunday 29th June 2008, starting at Tollcross Park. Entry is free.  Further Information and Entry Form available here

 

The Great Scottish Walk The first Glasgow Great Scottish Walk will be held on 25 May 2008 at Bellahouston Park.  The Glasgow Great Wee Scottish takes place at Glasgow Green on 11 May 2008.  Further Information

 

Parks and Outdoors
Glasgow is known worldwide as 'The Dear Green Place' and after visiting the city you will understand why.

Take a drive along any of the major roads in Glasgow and marvel at the number of trees in this city. Go to any vantage point -  a window in a multi-storey building or one of the many scenic points in our parks - and you will see a mass of greenery all around.

Glasgow City Council also provides some less well-known services for lovers of the outdoors:

• Allotment Gardens suitable for all levels of gardeners
• Outstanding Parks and Gardens throughout the city
• Equestrian Centre
• Countryside Ranger Service holds a vast array of events throughout the year
• A team of arboriculture officers who can answer questions on the trees within the city
• An award winning fold of Highland Cattle
• Ecologists and Biodiversity Officers promote and support the Ecology and Wildlife within the city

To encourage more people to use the city's facilities we are continuously reviewing them.  Some of our regeneration projects have included:

• installing all-weather tennis courts
• installing skateboard parks
• upgrading allotments
• upgrading playgrounds throughout the city
