Event Details

Santa Dash 08 took place on Sunday December 14, 2008.   The 5k run started and finished at George Square.

Glasgow Santa Dash 2008

Glasgow City Centre was over run with Christmas cheer as more than  2700 Santa’s braved the cold and took to the streets for Charity.  The event, which raised over £60,000 for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice and the Marina Dalglish Appeal was deemed a huge success by all who participated.

Joining the runners were Scottish Football Legend 'King' Kenny Dalglish, Olympic running hero, Liz McColgan and Leader of the Council Stephen Purcell. The Lord Provost of Glasgow Robert Winter got things off to a great start with a rousing pep talk before the Santa’s took to the streets.

On completion of the 5k runners were presented with a medal, goodie bag and were also given the chance to have a free twirl on the ice rink courtesy of Winterfest Glasgow.

Spot prizes, which included Oasis and track day tickets for Knockhill, were presented by Kenny and Marina Dalglish on the Winterfest stage at the end of the race.

The Event was organised by Glasgow City Council, sponsored by the Daily Record, the Royal Bank of Scotland and the St Enoch Centre.
