The Countryside Ranger Service run the "Green Team" club for children aged eight to twelve years old.  There is also the 50+ club for those over 50. For more information on the clubs contact your nearest Ranger base.

8 -12 years

Are you wild about nature, but don’t know what to do, where to go or who to ask?  Do you want to build a bird box, visit an aquarium or find out what lurks within a pond? If so the Countryside Rangers "Green Team" club is the place for you!

The club meets once a month on Saturday mornings from 10am-12 noon and membership costs £5.00 per year, which covers materials and snacks.

Sessions are held in various parks and greenspaces around the city throughout the year

The club has a variety of activities and trips for the budding naturalist to take part in.  A programme of events will be circulated on registration.

Glasgow's clued up Green Team of budding naturalists won the "Interclub Nature Challenge" in 2006.  Their Toadstool Trophy is proudly displayed in the Pollok Park visitor centre.  In 2005 the Linn Park Dipper Club won George Crawshaw's mushroom for being the most friendly and  enthusiatic team at the Inter-Club Challenge.

Not only that, it’s a great chance to meet new friends, all who will also be “animal crackers”!

For more information on how to join, please contact the Countryside rangers at any of the base sites or

If you want to learn about wildlife, take part in fun activities and outings and meet loads of new friends, then it is time to join in!

50+
The 50+ Club at Pollok Country Park meets on the last Friday of every month, as the name suggests, is targeted at those over 50 years of age with an interest in wildlife, gardens, travel and other such fascinating subjects.

The club often meets in the lecture room in Pollok Country Park for talks from experts in their fields or from members of the club themselves.  Recent talks have included the work of the SSPCA, and the history of the parks in Glasgow.

The club also takes many trips to interesting sites throughout the city and beyond.  This year there has been a guided tour of the wetlands in the North of the City, and a guided tour round Crookston Castle by Historic Scotland.

If you are interested in joining the 50+ Club and meeting like minded people, please contact:
