Water Vole Survey

Some good numbers of water vole have been recorded, especially along parts of the Garscadden Burn and in ditches around Cardowan Moss. At the latter site most of the Water Voles seen have been of the black form.

An independent survey of Millerston Wetlands in autumn 2001 discovered a major population of the species, and a healthy population has colonised the new wetlands in Hogganfield Park Local Nature Reserve.
