Why has the Draft Strategy been produced?

  • The Draft Strategy has been produced to allow Land and Environmental Services, through consultation, to improve its allotment service.

What are the aims of the Draft Strategy?

  • The main aims of the Draft Strategy are to improve existing allotment sites and increase allotment provision.

Where can I obtain a copy?

  • Copies of the Draft Strategy can be obtained from:

When did the consultation period end?

  • The consultation period ended on 20 June 2008.

What will happen after the consultation period has ended?

  • All responses will be collated.  A Final Allotments Strategy will then be produced to allow Land and Environmental Services to provide an improved allotments service.  It is our intention that the Final Strategy will be produced in the autumn of 2008.

If the Draft Strategy is designed to review and improve the allotment service, will this mean an increase in rental charges?

  • The level of investment required to meet the aims of the Draft Strategy will require funding from various sources.  This has not been fully considered, however, rents may require to be increased in future.

Will the review of the service put some sites under threat of closure?

  • The Draft Strategy aims to improve and increase allotment provision, and is not designed to close existing allotment sites.
