Racing enthusiasts turned up in their thousands to a rain soaked George Square but even the weather could do nothing to dampen their enthusiasm.

The event kicked off with Cllr Simpson lowering the flag for the elite of British motorcycling including Scottish legend and 3 times British Superbike champion Naill Mackenzie.  This year the crowds were treated to not only the top riders from the Bennetts British Superbike championship (BSB) but they were also entertained by Honda racing driver Gordon ‘Flash’ Shedden and rising star Michael Doyle. Who will be battling it out at the British Touring Car Championships, being held at Knockhill on August 16th and 17th.

Superbikes in the Square came to a close with Texan Eric Scott better known as Jet Pack man descending from the top of the City Chambers and blasting his way around the makeshift circuit before landing in the middle of the track.
