Superbikes in the Square 2008
Some of the fastest racers from around the world, the very elite of British motorcycle and saloon touring car racing, along with their phenomenally powerful machines, will wow crowds with demo laps from 5.30pm to 8pm. Warm-up action starts at 4pm. Fans will also get the chance to meet riders and drivers who’ll be signing autographs and showcasing their race prepared machines in the ‘pit and paddock’ area.

The free event heralds the build up to Scotland’s two biggest and most exhilarating motor-racing weekends of 2008. The Scottish rounds of the prestigious Bennetts British Superbike Championship (9 & 10 August) and the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship (16 & 17 August) will be fought out in back to back weekends at Knockhill racing circuit in Fife.
Only days ahead of the Superbike event, 20 of the fastest bikers in the world will bring the glamour and excitement of their sport to the heart of Glasgow at the City Centre event. And with the Touring Cars meeting just one week later (16 & 17 August), Scottish home favourite Gordon ‘Flash’ Shedden will be burning rubber in his Honda in George Square
Road Closures
In order to provide facilities for Superbikes in the Square, a safety zone is being created in the city centre.
Centred on George Square, this safety zone will be closed to vehicles from various times, starting at 11:00hrs and finishing at 23:00hrs on Wednesday 6 August. Further Information including map.
