CHANGES TO FITNESS UNLIMITED MEMBERSHIP
January 2008 Changes to the Fitness Unlimited membership package
Dear Member,
A number of the services you enjoy as a Fitness Unlimited member are exempt from Value Added Tax (VAT). Leisure trusts across the UK have been advised by HM Revenue and Customs that VAT will be charged on the full value of the membership fee unless we change the benefits offered to you.
In order to avoid increasing the cost of your membership by 17.5 per cent, I would advise that with effect from the 1 January 2008 Glasgow Club members will no longer be entitled to the free use of Health Suite facilities such as the spa and sauna.
Glasgow Club members who wish to use the Health Suite facilities can still do so at a “pay as you go” price of £1.00 or less, depending on your membership type, per visit. A separate Glasgow Club “Health Suite Only” membership, is also available from as little as £2.10 a month.
We would prefer not to make these changes, however were we not to do so it would result in an unavoidable increase in the cost of your membership by 17.5 per cent. Clearly this would not have been acceptable.
The decision by HM Revenue & Customs is being challenged through the courts and, if successful, then we will reinstate the original terms of the Glasgow Club membership.

* NOTES:
- The prices above are only available to members who already have a valid Fitness Unlimited Membership.
- The Health Suite Membership must be paid for using the same method as your existing Fitness Unlimited membership, i.e. payment over the counter or monthly direct debit.
- The 'Monthly Payment' amount is only available to Fitness Unlimited 'Monthly Pass' customers when buying a new monthly pass.
- 'Annual lump sum' payers who choose to upgrade part way through their year's membership can pay the 'Monthly Payment' amount for as many complete months as remain in their annual subscription.
- Direct Debit paying customers who have signed up for Health Suite unlimited membership but later want to cancel it must do so by phoning the Glasgow Club on 08000 270 470, providing 30 days notice.
