Samba Classes

Try a touch of Brazil in Glasgow

If you fancy trying a fitness class packed with fun hip moves for women why not try a samba class? Samba is the national symbol of Brazil, and it's appreciated worldwide. It's a fun and playful rhythm, whether dancing, playing or listening to the music. There are many types of samba rhythms and samba dances. Samba is danced in couples or 'solo'.

Its origin combines three different cultures: Portuguese songs, African rhythms, and fast-paced Indian rituals. Originally Samba music was played only with percussion instruments, and later the acoustic guitar and the 'cavaquinho' (small guitar) were added.

New classes start soon at the Kelvinhall led by Brazilian teacher Thaissa Luna Domingos.

Thaissa promises "A fusion of Afro, Brazilian dance moves, such as samba, lambada, and belly-dancing all in a contemporary style.  Classes will also blend in yoga stretches."
