Community Action Teams

The Community Action Team comprises of two officers and one admin support worker based within each of the eight geographical areas.

The Community Action Team works across the city, forging strong, area-based networks by involving voluntary, community, private and statutory organisations and agencies. It also provides a signposting service to assist communities in accessing provision and support offered by Culture and Support Glasgow. In addition, the team works closely with other Culture and Sport Glasgow sections to assist in the development of services that meet local need.

The team also adds value to existing projects and initiatives by supporting and advising on suitable approaches and levels of support required to deliver and sustain community-led projects.  Projects, which include sport, health, arts, play and education, are developed as appropriate interventions in order to address barriers to participation experienced by key target groups.

Key methods adopted by the Community Action Team include:

- The development of community capacity

- The development of service capacity

- The identification of appropriate resources

- The promotion of long term objectives and

  sustainability.

The role of the Community Action Team within

community fora is predominantly one of

dissemination of information on behalf of

Culture and Sport Glasgow.  The team acts

as a contact to other sections within Culture

and Sport Glasgow, many of which provide

training and specialist service provision, new

initiatives and funding opportunities.
