Council Security

The role of the Council Security Service is to protect the Council's assets including property, treasures, employees in the the course of their duties and the general public using Council facilities.

The Council Security Services develops for the Council a security strategy that identifies potential risk, introduces steps to control and manage the risks and reduces the Council's financial exposure to loss or damage.

The service encourages public reassurance through the establishment of a security culture that encourages staff, public and visitors to Glasgow to enjoy the services provided by Glasgow City Council free from harassment, vandalism or disruption.

It also underpins the Council's strategic objective of making Glasgow a safer place for people to live, work or visit.

Council Security Services operates from Blochairn Security Centre which houses the Council Alarm Receiving Centre and Glasgow's Public Space CCTV Centre.

The core functions of the Council Security Service are:-

  • Security Advice to the Council
  • Intruder, Fire and CCTV Monitoring
  • Lone Worker Monitoring
  • Key Management
  • Manned Guarding
  • Mobile Patrols
