Equality and Gender Issues

 

The Equality Officer for Community Services provides strategic and developmental support to a broad range of gender based and equality forums/services across Glasgow, linking and developing the community safety agenda groups.

Aims and Objectives :

 

  • provide strategic and developmental support to various gender based and equality forums in Glasgow
  • support and develop projects/initiatives that challenge and address discrimination
  • support and develop groups that challenge and address:
    • gender based violence
    • racism and racial discrimination 
    • homophobia and discrimination based on sexuality  
    • discrimination based on religion or religious beliefs
    • Discrimination based on disability

 

The initiatives currently being developed and supported include:

 

  • Glasgow Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Community Safety Forum
  • Glasgow Community Safety Forum for People with Learning Difficulties
  • Glasgow Black & Ethnic Minority Community Safety Forum
  • Violence Against Women Forums 
  • Glasgow Violence Against Women Partnership
  • various groups when needed or requested eg. SAY Women, LGBT Centre, Wise Women, Somali Families in Action etc.
