Restorative Conferencing

Restorative Conferencing is offered where there is an identifiable person affected by an offence, whether this is an organisation such as First Bus or Rail Track or an individual who has been harmed by antisocial or offending behaviour.

A restorative conference allows people involved in an incident the opportunity to meet in a safe environment, facilitated by trained restorative justice workers and attended by the person harmed.  The conference focuses on the facts and consequences of an incident for all involved.  Persons harmed have the opportunity to ask for reparation, which can be a request for something to be done by the person responsible to make amends for what happened.

A variety of behaviours ranging from vandalism to assault have been dealt with successfully through the use of the restorative conference approach.
