Community Safety Forums

Support Services provides assistance in fostering co-operation and participation between agencies/services and local communities in the development of partnerships to impact on community safety issues at a local level.

This is seen with the work of Community Safety Forums across the City.

There are a number of community safety forums operating across the city. Communities are encouraged to identify community safety issues that affect their neighbourhoods and to become involved in Community Safety Forums.

If there is a community safety issue of concern in your area this can be raised at the forum on the community’s behalf by a member of the team.

The Community Safety Support Team currently consists of four development workers, 2 assistant development workers and an administration assistant.

The team operates across Glasgow and works with other partner agencies to:

  • identify and respond to local community safety issues
  • provide support for Community Safety Forums
  • provide support, training and advice on community safety matters
  • conduct community safety audits and surveys
  • promote models of good practice in safety initiatives
  • assist in the development of CCTV and promotion of the service
  • identify vulnerable groups within communities and facilitate the provision of safety service
  • develop Home Safety Issues
  • develop and assist in the implementation of Anti-vandalism measures
  • provide support and assistance for special initiatives including the development of Action Plans e.g. Water Safety, and Safe Access to Parks, Open Spaces, Walkways and Cycleways
