How can I make an application?
Application forms are available to print from the Council's website here or at your local Revenues and Benefits Centre. If you are unable to visit your local centre or access the Council's website, you can call 0141 287 7961 to have a form posted to you.

What are the qualifying conditions?
In order to receive the payment you must be 80 years of age or over by 31st March 2012 and living in Glasgow. Even if you are not yet 80 but will be before 31st March 2012 you can make the application now.
How will applications be processed?
Staff at your local Revenues and Benefits Centre will assess applications received and decide if your claim meets the qualifying conditions.
Any evidence posted will be returned immediately by recorded delivery mail.
When will the payment be made?
Applications processed by the 13th January 2012 will be paid either by the issue of a cheque or directly into your bank account by the end of January 2012.
Any application processed after the 13th January but before 17th February 2012 will be paid by the end of February 2012.
Applications processed after the 17th February but before 16th March will be paid by the end of March 2012
Applications made thereafter will be paid in April 2012.
What evidence is required to support my claim?
Where you have signed the declaration to allow the council to access information held by the Pensions Service/Department for Works and Pensions to check your age and you are in receipt of Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit you need not provide any evidence. If you are not in receipt of Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit the council will attempt to verify your claim through accessing our own records. Should further evidence be required the council will contact you to advise what to do next. We will never ask you to provide your bank details over the telephone.
Is the claim limited to one individual per household?
No. Anyone who meets the criteria is eligible including those living in residential homes and hospitals.
How will payments be made?
Payments will be made by cheque or directly by BACS into your bank account.

As part of the process for delivering the affordable warmth dividend we are keen to make sure that you are able to heat your home as cost effectively as possible, Both Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Housing Association have a free to all energy advice service. The Council's service is known as G-HEAT - the Glasgow Home Energy Advice Team- they are able to provide tailored advice to householders on a face to face basis in their homes. They are also able to provide help in dealing with the utilities, if for example you think you may be paying too much, or help get you onto a cheaper tariff.
