Overpayments

 

 

The amount of Housing Benefit you receive is based on the information you provide when you complete your application form.

 

If your circumstances change then the amount of Housing Benefit you receive may change too. You need to tell us immediately otherwise we may pay you too much. This is called an Overpayment.

 

If you have been overpaid Housing Benefit, we will write to you to advise you of the amount, period covered, reason and how we have worked it out. We will also advise you of how we intend to recover the overpayment.

 

You may appeal our decision and request that we look again at the decision. However there is a 1 month time limit for such a request.
