The Financial Services Authority has developed a user-friendly website, Mortgages Laid Bare , that explains the various mortgage options, and can help with budgeting.

 

Shelter Scotland has a good website with a range of additional information including buying a new build property, buying at auction, buying with other people, right to buy and buying if you are a disabled person.

A booklet Thinking About Buying is available free from the Scottish Executive ( telephone 0131 244 2105 for a copy). The booklet has helpful advice and lists all the questions the buyer needs to ask at each stage in the purchase process.
