Housing Options for Migrant Workers

There are an increasing number of migrant workers from new European Union member states.  These are people from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia (known as A8 nationals) and Romania and Bulgaria (known as A2 nationals).

Glasgow welcomes people coming to live and work here, and the Council has produced an Information booklet for migrant Workers

Migrant Worker Housing Options

You have the same access rights to housing as other Glasgow residents.  You can live in properties that are private rented from landlords.  You are also eligible for flats let by housing associations and co-ops

Eligibility for Housing Benefit and Homelessness Assistance

Whether you are eligible for housing benefit and homelessness assistance can be complex, and depends on a range of factors.  Some initial advice is available here for A8 nationals and A2 nationals.  However, you should also get further advice from specialist advice services.  For housing advice, Positive Action in Housing has a specialist service for migrant workers.
