Help with furnishings
Glasgow City Council has access to a range of furnished flats for use as temporary accommodation.
If you have been assessed as unintentionally homeless and in priority need, the Council has a duty to provide you with permanent accommodation. This is usually a Scottish Secure Tenancy with a housing association or co-operative or, much less commonly, an Assured Tenancy with a private landlord.
Most housing association or co-operative tenancies come unfurnished, although Glasgow Housing Association provides a furnished let service. There is an additional charge for this service.
You can get information on help with furnishings from the Homeless Information Pages.
The Social Fund
The Department for Work and Pensions Social Fund offers a number of ways which may help you to pay for furniture, including Community Care Grants, Budgeting Loans and Crisis Loans.
