Older people

Glasgow City Council provides a range of services for older people .

Housing associations and co-operatives provide a range of accommodation options across Glasgow. This includes sheltered, very sheltered or amenity houses, and community alarm systems.

Other housing associations may also have specialist accommodation for older people. Find a housing association or co-operative by area .

 

Abbeyfield Societies offers homes within homes for frail or older people who no longer wish or are able to live alone, but who seeks companionship and an independent lifestyle within a secure and caring environment.

 

The Elderly Accommodation Council provides a housing options website for older people. The site includes a searchable database of properties to rent or buy.

 

INNIS provides specialist free advice on private retirement housing provided by Age Concern Scotland .

Glasgow City Council organises and provides a range of services for people living in the city who are affected by mental health problems .

 

Both the Glasgow Association for Mental Health (GAMH) and the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) provide a range of accommodation and housing support services.

 

Richmond Fellowship Scotland provides a mix of individual tenancies and supported accommodation throughout the city.

 

Queens Cross Housing Association provides some

specialist supported accommodation in Glasgow.

 

Loretto Housing Association Lipton House is involved in the provision of a range of supported accommodation.

 

Penumbra provides some supported accommodation and a housing support service throughout the city.

Physical disabilities

 

Glasgow City Council provides a range of services for people with physical disabilities living in the city .

 

Glasgow Centre for Inclusive Living has comprehensive information on access to housing in the city for people with disabilities and a range of other services.

Margaret Blackwood Housing Association provides houses for rent and shared ownership throughout Scotland for people with disabilities and their families, for older people and for those without disabilities, all within mixed communities.

 

Disabled Persons Housing Service aims to be a one stop shop for people with disabilities who are in housing need.

Glasgow City Council provides services for young people looked after by the Council and also provides general information for young people who it looks after .

Shelter Scotland provides online information for young people.

 

There is information available on accommodation for young people at risk of homelessness .

 

Many housing providers are involved in different ways to help young people, whether or not they have been previously looked after by the Council. A key provider is Blue Triangle (Glasgow) Housing Association .

Glasgow City Council provides services for asylum seekers and refugees .

The Scottish Refugee Council provides a safe and welcoming service for asylum seekers and refugees.

Ex-armed services

 

The Royal British Legion's Ex-Service Homes Referral Agency (ESHRA) provides detailed information about care homes, specialist homes and housing designed to meet the needs of the ex-service community and their dependants. Details about accommodation in Glasgow and other parts of Scotland .

 

The Veterans Agency is the single point of contact within the Ministry of Defence for providing information, help and advice on issues of concern to veterans and their families. It does this through its free Helpline, welfare service and this website.
