What is a lightbox, and what is it for?
The lightbox is for collecting images you may be interested in buying but may still be undecided about. Once you have decided on the image or images you want to buy, you then transfer them from the lightbox to the shopping basket, then proceed to the checkout.
I can’t find an image of a painting I know you have in your collections. Where will I find it?
Not all our paintings are online at the moment. We will be continually adding to the number of images on this website over the coming months. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please contact us.
Can I take my own photographs of objects in your museums?
A form to request permission to draw, photograph and make video recordings in Glasgow Museums stores and galleries for personal use is available from all our museums and must be completed before undertaking any of the above.
Photography without the use of tripods is usually permitted. But due to the sensitive nature of many of our exhibits, and the possible damaging effects of flash photography, permission must be sought before hand.
Commercial photography requests should be addressed to Glasgow Museums Photo Library:
Photo Library Glasgow Museums The Burrell Collection Pollok Country Park 2060 Pollokshaws Road Glasgow G43 1AT Scotland United Kingdom

Where can I find out more information about some of your collections?
We are currently working to get our collections database online. We expect to have it online in 2009. In the meantime, you may find the objects or information you are looking for on our main website www.glasgowmuseums.com.
If you would like to contact us with an enquiry, please give us as much information about the nature of your enquiry as possible, and either email us at photolibrary@csglasgow.org, or write to us at Glasgow Museums, Cultural and Leisure Services, 20 Trongate, Glasgow, G1 5ES, Scotland, United Kingdom.
Can I visit the Photo Library?
We welcome visitors but, as we are a busy commercial photo library, please contact us to arrange an appointment.
Do you provide picture research?
Yes. Our basic fee is £27.50, but the final cost will depend on the amount of work involved.
What methods of payment do you accept?
You can pay by credit card, either online through WorldPay, or by telephone to us at the Photo Library, phone +44 (0) 141 287 2595. We accept cheques in GBP (pounds Sterling). We can also invoice.
What if a work is still in copyright?
We can obtain copyright clearance on your behalf, but a charge for this will apply.
