The following search tips tips may help you perform a successful search.
Search
The Search function can be used to search for a word within the artist, keywords, image title, object number or description fields. Always double check for misspellings and typing errors.
The Search function can also be used to search by year. This can either be a single year or year range. Year range searches must follow the format of 4 digits, a separator followed by 4 digits. The separator can be anything. For example, it can be a space or hyphen – ‘1800 1900’ or ‘1800-1900’ or ‘1800 – 1900’ or ‘1800 to 1900’.
Searching for words such as 'hat' or 'the' will also bring up words containing these words, for example 'chateau' or 'Sutherland'. So we advise you to use the Keyword search.
Entering a word in the search field and pressing the return key on your computer will not activate the search function. You must click on Search to the right of the search field box to activate the search function.

The Search by Artist function will display an A to Z list of artists. An artist can be selected by clicking on the artist link.
