We'll hoop it up for Tartan Week!
Pupils from Bellahouston Academy were 'hooping' it up for Glasgow at the 2006 Tartan Week Celebrations in New York.
Eight young men aged 15-17 travelled out to the Big Apple for an eight day cultural and educational exchange. As part of the trip the boys competed in a Glasgow versus New York basketball game with host school Xavier High School.
The group were proud to carry the Glasgow: Scotland with Style and Glasgow the Caring City Flags during Tartan Day Parade attended by the First Minister and Lord Provost of Glasgow.
The trip, organised by Youth Services, centred on a three day visit to Xavier High School in Manhattan and Jefferson Boys Club, where the group experienced life in a New York classroom. As part of the programme the group also attended a live Runrig gig in Times Square, seen a New York Nicks basketball match and attended the Scottish Youth Theatre performance as guests of the Lord Provost.
The £20,000 trip funded by Glasgow City Council, Couch USA, Awards for All and the British Council.
