What's in the library for me?
Magazines, graphic novels, books and audiobooks on CD/tape. You'll also find videos and DVDs and all your favourite music on CD.
All our libraries now have learning centres with computers for all ages to use. You can:
- access the Internet for FREE
- learn more about software such as Word or Excel
- play CDs such as Harry Potter
How do I join the library?
It's free to join and you can pick up an application form at any library.
Just ask your parent or carer to sign your completed application form and bring it to the library. You will need to bring two proofs of name and address with you (for example - bank statement, Young Scot card).
You can use your new library card straight away!
What can I borrow?
If you are under 14 years of age, you can borrow up to 6 books or magazines, up to 3 DVDs or videos and up to 3 music CDs.
If you are 14 years or over you can borrow up to 12 books or magazines, up to 3 DVDs or videos and up to 6 music CDs.
All books and magazines are free but there are charges for other items such as DVDs, videos and CDs.
How long can I keep them?
You can keep books and magazines for up to 4 weeks or longer if no-one else has requested them. Just phone any library or bring them in to be restamped before the due date.
You can keep CDs, DVDs and videos for 1 week.
If you forget to return your books on time, you'll not be charged fines if you are under 14 years.
Can you keep books aside for me?
Yes. If you can't find the book you want, you can reserve it by filling in a request card and then we'll let you know when the book is ready for collection. If no-one has borrowed the book then there will no charge.
