Your Say

The Young Glasgow section of the Glasgow City Council website is specifically for Glasgow's young people. Let us know what you think of the pages so far, and tell us how you'd like to see things progress. But we don't only want your views about the web site ... we want to know what you think about services as a whole. We conduct ongoing consultations on subjects that matter to you and compile your reviews on the services we offer so that we can better shape and target the delivery of those services that matter most.

Group of young people

Some things that have changed as a result of comments from young people in Glasgow:

  • In Spring 2008 Glasgow Young Scot conducted an alcohol survey to gain an insight of young persons views on alcohol.

  • Each year, we run a Summer and Christmas campaign, enabling young people to access offers and competitions. We then review what cardholders thought of the campaign - everything from the design of the promotional material to the popularity of the offers and prizes. This helps us to make constant improvements, year on year. Find out what some young people thought of our most recent campaigns.

  • We've recently negotiated a range of discounts for Glasgow Young Scot Card holders in shops at the Glasgow Fort Shopping Park. We listened when young people in the East End of the City told us they wanted more local discounts. Link to all the details on retail discounts at the Fort and more besides.

  • We've introduced a reduced-fee Glasgow Club membership, meaning Glasgow Young Scot Card holders save £s when joining the city's largest health and fitness network. Young people told us they wanted this and we made it happen. Even the name "GYM" (Glasgow Young Membership) was suggested by a young person.

  • In 2007, on behalf of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, we ran an online survey for young people to feed in their views on child protection issues. Marie Valente, Head of Child Protection Development said: "I am writing on behalf of the child protection unit at NHSGGC to thank everyone who participated in our online survey which ran from August to December last year. We were delighted with the response and the issues you raised certainly gave us lots to think about. We’ve now had a chance to bring all the information together and will ensure that staff throughout health will have access to it. In particular we will use the material you gave us to inform both our training and our direct work with young people. Once again, many thanks".
