Since 2005, the Leader of Glasgow City Council has been Steven Purcell. The office of the Leader is based at Glasgow's historic City Chambers.
The Chambers are the headquarters of Glasgow City Council, the largest local authority in Scotland, and were completed in 1889.
They are located on the east side of George Square, in the heart of Glasgow.
Queen Victoria formally opened the building in 1888. The first Council meeting was held in October 1889.
