Councillor Biography

Aileen Colleran was first elected in 1999, representing Partick. She is the Executive Committee Member for Parks and Facilities, Chair of the West End Area Committee, and Chair of the Community Health and Social Care Partnership (West).

She graduated from Robert Gordon’s University in Aberdeen in Librarianship and Information Studies, and has a post-graduate diploma in Environmental Studies from Strathclyde University.

She also works as a freelance trainer delivering seminars on workplace issues and management skills.

Aileen became involved in politics because of her commitment to public services and the important role local government plays in people's lives, which she learnt through delivering services to the community when working in Glasgow’s libraries and now representing the people in her ward.

Being active in her trade union provided her with invaluable experience of representation and political education in debate and campaigning.
