Glasgow Community Justice Authority (CJA) aims to reduce re offending, improve the management of offenders and create safer communities by delivering the National Strategy for the Management of Offenders in Glasgow.
The role of the CJA is to plan, co-ordinate, monitor and report on the delivery of offender services by local partners and what impact these services have on reducing re offending and making communities safer. To do this it must ensure co-operation and the sharing of information between partners and promote service improvements, new ways of working and good practice.
Seven local authority Councillors are full members of the CJA, chaired by Cllr John McKenzie. The CJA meets 4 times per year at the City Chambers and these meetings are open to the public. CJA minutes and agendas are available online. We also work with a range of partner organisations to reduce re offending in the City including Criminal Justice Social Work Services, the Scottish Prison Service, NHS, Police, Courts and the Voluntary Sector.
CJA Priorities for 2007/8
