Located at the southern tip of the Liaondong Peninsula. It borders the Yellow Sea in the east, the Bohai Sea in the west, faces the Shandong Peninsula to the south and joins with the north-eastern part of Inner Mongolia to the north. Dalian is the northernmost coastal city in China.

 

Dalian City has 6 zones, 1 municipality and 3 counties under its administration. It has a population of 5,404,000 with over 2,329,000 living in urban areas. As a famous port, industrial and touring city and an import door for foreign trade, Dalian has many economic advantages.

 

The economy of Dalian is rather diversified. It is one of the most important areas for producing fruits and aquatic products, as well as one of the 4 major salt producing centres in China. Its industrial and technological foundations have helped the city form one of the industrial bases for machinery processing, petrochemical, processing, light industries, textile industries and electronics.
