Who is eligible to register to vote?

 

To be entitled to register to vote in Glasgow you must live in the city and be at least 18 years old when the register is in force.

 

If you are going to turn 18 while the register is in force your name can be added to the register along with the date you become eligible to vote. You will be unable to vote until the date you become eligible, this is normally the date of your 18th birthday.

 

Who can vote ?

 

In order to vote in an election you must meet certain requirements:

  • Your name must be on the Register of Electors.
  • You must be a British, Commonwealth or Irish citizen.
  • You must be 18 or over.
  • You must live in Glasgow to vote in a Glasgow constituency.
  • You must not be legally incapable of voting.

 

Citizens of the European Union, Peers and Overseas Electors have restricted voting rights.
