New legislation requires that all absent voters must now provide a signature and date of birth. Letters will be sent to all existing absent voters in the next few weeks requesting them to provide these "Personal Identifiers". Reminder letters will be issued if no response is received within 3 weeks.
If no response is received within 3 weeks of the issue of the reminder letter, the elector will be removed from the list of absent voters and will no longer be entitled to an absent vote. A waiver may be granted by the Electoral Registration Officer if an absent voter is unable to provide a signature due to disability or inability to read or write. Date of birth will still be required.
