FOI Enquiries by the Media

Most local and national media offices will be aware that placing a press enquiry with Glasgow City Council requires you to contact the Media Office of the Council’s Corporate Communication Unit.

However, you may also be aware that the Scottish Information Commissioner makes no distinction between the public and the press.  Therefore, any calls from the media presented as formal FOI requests will be dealt with in the same way as public enquiries.

It is necessary for these purposes that the media use the same processes as the public when making a FOI request.

To explain this matter in greater detail, a media briefing has been prepared, which can be accessed from this FOI Media Brief (PDF 388kb) link.

A web based FOI request  can be made from this Online Request link.
