Performance

It is the responsibility of government at all levels to be accountable to its stakeholders on how services are delivered.  This is generally achieved through a framework of performance reporting, accompanied by both internal and external assessment.

The Council operates these processes at two levels, ie at internal operation level, and at a Public Performance Reporting level.

The main objectives of performance monitoring and reporting  is to understand how well we are currently performing, and what scope there is for further improvement.  Therefore it is necessary to collect information about service performance and to compare this against the achievements of others or against national standards.  Implicit in this process is the development of an understanding of what the stakeholders (service users, etc) expect of us, and an ability to feedback on our achievements as a test of how effective our policies and actions have been in meeting our stakeholder needs.

Performance information is provided on this website on our approach and our achievements at both Corporate and Service level.
