Social Work Services Research

Introduction to Research in Social Work Services

Glasgow City Council Social Work Services is committed to understanding the needs of our citizens and promoting these requirements across Social Work Services.

Social Work Services has its own internal Social Research Team that works alongside external institutions to carry out research within Social Work Services.

The main function of the Social Research Team is to contribute appropriate evidence to help Social Work Services understand the issues faced by, and needs of, the vulnerable members of our community.

Such information can be gathered in a number of ways. The most effective information, however, is collected by talking to service users, staff and citizens. Evaluating this evidence helps Social Work Services to develop and deliver appropriate services aimed at improving the quality of life for vulnerable citizens and ensures that the Service is achieving what it set out to do.

This process of researching, consulting and evaluating is an on-going process, with both customer satisfaction and service effectiveness being monitored over time to ensure they continue to meet the needs of our community.
