The Social Work Inspection Agency (SWIA) has published its Report on the recent Performance Inspection of Glasgow City Council Social Work Services.

Best Value
In accordance with the Council’s approach to Best Value, each year we examine a number of the services we provide to see if there are ways in which we can improve them. For each service we review we draw up a continuous improvement plan that sets out what action we are going to take and when we will take it. These reviews ensure that we are providing service users with the best services possible in terms of quality and cost.

Performance Reporting
We are committed to letting people know what our plans are for improving the services we provide and what standard of service people can expect to receive and to reporting regularly on how we are doing.

Service Standards
Social Work Services are committed to providing good quality care and support services. We are constantly looking for ways to improve these services, to make them easier to access and to ensure that we let people know what standard of service they can expect. In 2005 we introduced a Customer Care Charter.

Research
Effective, well planned research is essential to enable us both to understand the needs of the vulnerable members of our community and to evaluate our performance in meeting those needs.

Contract Management
The Contract Management Framework will provide a comprehensive approach to evidencing the effectiveness of new and existing services and will include information gathered from a number of sources including service users, service providers, care managers and contract managers.  The aim of the framework is to achieve consistency of approach across Social Work Services and will be applied across all client teams.

This information is targeted at independent providers of care and support services, from whom the Council currently purchases services.
