Council Plan

The Council has developed its second Council Plan which sets out its proposals for the next three years. The Plan contains information on the Council’s future plans and key targets up to 2011. The City Council’s vision is to create “a prosperous city for all Glaswegians”, ensuring that Glasgow continues to build on its current successes for the benefit of all its citizens.  This will be done through working with all the Council’s partners, in the public, voluntary and private sectors.

A 2009 to 2011 supplement to the Council Plan has just been finalised, outlining how we will, during the current economic downturn:

  • meet the financial challenge of the economic downturn;
  • reduce the effect the economic downturn has on people living in Glasgow;
  • invest in staff and having a flexible workforce; and
  • support Glasgow’s economy.

You can view here via the link provided: Council Plan Supplement 2009 to 2011.

Our supplement highlights the actions we are taking to:

  • reduce our spending;
  • encourage and support city business; and
  • develop or redesign existing services to better meet your needs in this difficult period.

This supplement also gives targets for these actions.  Where we think we cannot achieve targets we have previously set, we have revised them to reflect the present tough economic circumstances.
