Health Policy

The Health Team is jointly managed by the Head of Corporate Policy and the Director of Public Health. Working closely with officers across the Council, Arms Length External Organisations (e.g. Culture and Sport Glasgow, Glasgow Community and Safety Services) and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, the Health Team aims to ensure a corporate approach to health improvement and reducing health inequalities across all services of the Council, focusing on policy and strategy.

The focus to date has been on:

Target groups include children and young people (especially early years), people excluded from the labour market and council staff


One of the processes used by the team is Health Impact Assessment.  The first Health Impact Assessment completed by the team was on the delivery plans for the Commonwealth Games.  The team have also supported the work of Glasgow's Health Commission
