Risk Management

Glasgow City Council appreciates the benefits brought through good risk management and has in place a comprehensive risk management framework. It also recognises that risk management is a key element of good corporate governance.

Risk management within the Council seeks to identify, assess and manage risks, to both minimise the threats presented by risk, and to allow the Council to take opportunities. Risk management extends to include business continuity management and planning in conjunction with the Council’s Emergencies Planning Unit.

The Council has an established Corporate Risk Management Section to monitor, review and report on the Council’s risk management framework. There is a Corporate Risk Working Group and an Operational Risk Management Forum which meet regularly to discuss and implement risk management initiatives at strategic and operational levels.

Specific recognition is given to partners and other organisations working with the Council.
