The Local Government in Scotland Act (2003) places a duty on Local Authorities to initiate, maintain and facilitate the Community Planning process.
Through representation on the Strategic Board, the Executive Group and various working groups, the Council plays a key role in strategy and policy development for the Community Planning Partnership.
In July 2008 the Council and the Scottish Government signed off Glasgow’s first Single Outcome Agreement (SOA). The Agreement, developed by the Council in conjunction with its Community Planning Partners, provides a summary of the improvements planned for the City over the period 2008/09 to 2010/11, including reducing health inequalities, tackling worklessness and improving community safety. Many of these targets relate to Council services. More detailed information on Council targets can be found in the Council Plan 2008-11.
The introduction of the SOA sees a reduction in funding restrictions placed on Partners by the Scottish Government, allowing greater flexibility to target resources according to local priorities and need.
