Strategies and initiatives within Direct and Care Services
A number of strategies and initiatives have been implemented to achieve our service objectives
Equality Agenda
To work with the Glasgow Housing Association and Local Housing Organisations in the provision of Landlord Services
Introduction of the "Hungry for Success" school meals report
Extension of a handyperson service targeted at citizens over 65yrs of age
Implementation of National Care Standards for home care service delivery
Delivery of Housing Support to vulnerable client groups
In agreement with Social Work Services, integration of the existing alarm system and the home care out of hours service
Continued development of the Meals at Home service from the traditional meals on wheels
Expansion of the rapid response service to accommodate increasing numbers of patients who are discharged from hospital
Health and Direct Working Group Action Plan
Provision of a free breakfast service to all primary schools across the city
Implementation of a cashless catering programme in primary schools
Introduction of e-commerce into catering establishments
Development of a strategic framework for consultation with all stakeholders of the home care service
Continued development of the Greater Glasgow Independent Living Equipment Store, a service that provides specialist equipment to the elderly, disabled and infirm on behalf of Social Work Services, the Primary Care Trust and East Dumbartonshire Council
Development of the wedding and corporate events market using Council venues
Extension of the Fruit in Schools project and introduction of the "Pick 'n' mix" healthy eating initiative
Develop a new training centre at Queenslie, in conjunction with Building Services
In conjunction with Education Services, provision of vocational training to school pupils through the school vocational training project
Introduction and accreditation of "Scotland's Best" training to all visitor attractions
Continued expansion and development of the overnight home care service to clients throughout the city
Extended usage of the online ordering facility to all acute hospital trusts, enabling more rapid hospital discharge of patients
