Our Role

The main role (or mission) of Development and Regeneration Services (DRS) is to be the Council’s main in-house agent for securing development and regeneration. This involves the delivery of the following core services :

• business and the economy
• planning services (including development management, building control and public safety, and property information and mapping)
• housing investment and development
• transport and environmental policy
• project management and design
• service development and corporate services

DRS has established a vision and objectives that together convey its intentions in carrying out its role and the overall impact it aims to have on the city and its people.

Our Vision

DRS will take the lead role in Glasgow’s development and work with partners and key stakeholders to develop and deliver the type of actions that will ensure the continued regeneration of the City.

Our Objectives

To help us achieve our vision we have identified four key service objectives for the next 12 months and beyond.

• Develop effective regional, city-wide, and local policies and plans that will provide templates to engage partners and focus development and regeneration activities to deliver sustainable and wide ranging social, economic, environmental and cultural benefits.
• Provide effective regulation to ensure that all development and regeneration activities are compliant with local and statutory requirements and ensure public safety.
• Develop and deliver value added projects and initiatives across social, economic, environment and cultural development fronts that will enrich the quality of people’s lives by improving their social, economic and environmental well-being.
• Make best use of resources and modernise services to ensure delivery of best value for money.
